Villages Pizza Oak Bay (Review)

After purchasing a recent Groupon for a flatbread pizza and two pops for only $9, we decided to give it a try on an evening where neither of us felt like cooking. Our particular Groupon was purchased for redemption at the Villages Oak Bay location.

The flatbread pizza is a square pizza measuring 12 inches by 12 inches, and according to their website, is the equivalent of a large pizza. The Groupon deal allowed for up to 4 toppings, so we went with the Texas Chicken (regular price $12.00) toppings, which include Bull’s Eye barbecue sauce, Dole pineapples, banana peppers & oven roasted chicken breast. With the order placed for pick up, the pizza was ready in about 20 minutes on a Friday evening.

The flatbread dough was a tasty alternative to the regular pizza we are all so accustomed to having. Light and crispy, the 12 inch by 12 inch pizza was just enough to share between two people. Even though they claim it is the equivalent of a large pizza, due to the fact it is flatbread, it isn’t as filling as a regular dough pizza – but on the plus side, that means it is a little better for you. The Texas Chicken carries a bit of a bite to it with the bbq sauce and the banana peppers, but was not overpowering. There was no shortage of toppings, with plenty of chicken.

Overall, the flat bread pizza is a great alternative, and makes you feel a little bit better about a pizza with its thin crust. Though if you are sharing the pizza between two hungry people, it might not be enough to satisfy both appetites.
