Having never eaten at The Clay Pigeon, I jumped at the chance to try it out for brunch with one of my best girls. We arrived around 10:30 a.m. on a snowy Sunday and were excatatic that there was no wait for a table.
The atmosphere of The Clay Pigeon is cozy chic; it is small, but intimate and a well utilized space. We were seated at the window (next to a heater!) and it was a lovely spot to sit, catch up, and watch the world go by. The staff were friendly and attentive which punctuated the dining experience. Props to our server, Jessica, who did an excellent job keeping our coffee’s full and making helpful recommendations.
I ordered the Kale Florentine ($12) which consists of braised kale, caramelized onions and parmesan, eggs (cooked either fried or poached), baby red potatoes and toasted focaccia. I chose to have my eggs poached medium; I was surpised how well the yolk complimented the flavours of the kale and potatoes. It was a light and delicious meal, though I really enjoy spice so found it to be a little unexciting… next time I’ll add bacon!
Overall, I would highly recommend The Clay Pigeon. It is a charming restaurant with endearing staff and delicious food. If you haven’t already, you should go check it out!
